چکیده

A novel continuation method is presented for solving the inverse medium scattering problem of the Helmholtz equation, which is to reconstruct the shape of the inhomogeneous medium from boundary measurements of the scattered field. The boundary data is assumed to be available at multiple frequencies. Initial guesses are chosen from a direct imaging algorithm, multiple signal classification (MUSIC), along with a level set representation at a certain wavenumber, where the Born approximation may not be valid. Each update via recursive linearization on the wavenumbers is obtained by solving one forward and one adjoint problem of the Helmholtz equation. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A Data Focusing method for Microwave Imaging of Extended Targets

This paper presents a data focusing method (DFM) to image extended targets using the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The restriction on the number of transmitter-receiver antennas in a microwave imaging system deteriorates profiling an extended target that comprises many point scatterers. Under such situation, the subspace-based linear inverse scattering methods, like the MUSI...

Inverse scattering problem for the Impulsive Schrodinger equation with a polynomial spectral dependence in the potential

In the present work, under some di¤erentiability conditions on the potential functions , we …rst reduce the inverse scattering problem (ISP) for the polynomial pencil of the Scroedinger equation to the corresponding ISP for the generalized matrix Scrödinger equation . Then ISP will be solved in analogy of the Marchenko method. We aim to establish an e¤ective algorithm for uniquely reconstructin...

Computational Inverse Medium Scattering at Fixed Frequency

A continuation method is presented for solving the inverse medium scattering problem of the Helmholtz equation in R. The algorithm requires only single-frequency scattering data. Using an initial guess from the Born approximation, each update is obtained via recursive linearization on the spatial frequency of a one-parameter family of plane waves by solving one forward and one adjoint problem o...

Direct and Inverse Elastic Scattering Problems for Diffraction Gratings

This paper is concerned with the direct and inverse scattering of time-harmonic plane elastic waves by unbounded periodic structures (diffraction gratings). We present a variational approach to the forward scattering problems with Lipschitz grating profiles and give a survey of recent uniqueness and existence results. Concerning the inverse problem, global uniqueness results within the class of...

Inverse medium scattering for three-dimensional time harmonic Maxwell equations

A continuation method is developed for solving the inverse medium scattering problem of time harmonic Maxwell equations in R3. By using multifrequency scattering data, our reconstruction algorithm first employs the Born approximation for an initial guess and proceeds via recursive linearization on the wavenumber k. At each linearization step, one forward and one adjoint state of the Maxwell equ...
